Chilliwack Interchange 2008
Location: Chilliwack, BC
June 13 - 15, 2008
We travelled, we setup at 50" for the first time, and had an absolute blast at the Chilliwack Interchange 2008 setup!
With the troubleshooting capabilities of the Loconet repeaters being fully utilized and certain loconet devices taken out of commission, we finally have a large layout where we didn't need to reset the command station once!
The layout saw many new modules in the setup, including a very dramatic recreation of the Quintette Tunnels in Dave Chomyn's latest module "Othello". While the prototype tunnels exist as a walking trail outside of Hope, BC, the module is a fully functional single track module which drew lots of attention from the locals who were familiar with the former Kettle Valley Railway there. The Chilliwack Model Railway Club, Free-mo division also mustered several new modules as well, though for many of us from Calgary, the biggest difference between this and all our past shows was the layout height.
Make no mistake, we have the capability of setting up at the Free-mo standard of 50", but we certainly will only do so when we have to. Setting up the layout for a track height at 42" is a much better height for both short operators and the public.
Thanks for having us out in Chilliwack guys!
