Kerr's corner - Owned and built by Bill Kerr

Type of module: Single Track Main

The Switching & Sipping Society is active again, this time in HO.

This module, with an emphasis on scenery, represents a single track branch line running through the countryside. The track, which lies on a 60" radius curve with long easements, consists of code 83 rail hand laid on wooden ties. The module itself is made up of two sections that together form a 45° corner. The scenery rests on a foam board base and utilizes pulverized sandstone, blonde Halloween wigs, natural branches and twigs, epoxy resin for the water, and a variety of Selkirk Scenery products to represent vegetation. The line traverses Knight's farm before crossing a rural road, then continuing on to Graham’s Trestle spanning Carr's Creek. This waterway is renowned for its outstanding fishing, and old Bill can be found at the boat house renting out his guaranteed-not-to-leak watercraft. That's Bill, sitting on a bailing pail, playing a rousing game of checkers. The infamous Graham’s Trestle is getting a little old, so the train engineers have to abide by a 10 MPH slow order when crossing the venerable structure. The Bridge and Building superintendent is on site doing an inspection, and rumor has it that the span will soon be replaced by a fill. However, the channel needs to be left open for the creek to flow, and the locals are worried that if the trestle is eliminated, it will affect the fishing. Because of the unprotected road crossing and swimming hole enthusiasts diving from the trestle, it is necessary for the engineers to pay special attention to the whistle post as they enter the scene and trundle past Selkirk’s Land Development sign.

This module is currently Retired.
