It was with great excitement that we announced the return of Alberta Free-mo in Big Valley, AB.

Alberta Free-mo 2018

Fellow Free-moites,
It is with great thanks that we present the As Built plan of the 2018 setup, with some statistics about the layout. The strong support we received from our group members, and the extra efforts put into this event by everyone who got involved in the planning and execution is what made this event successful. We are unaware of any larger setup in North America - glad you were all part of it.
This was our largest setup with 1,126 feet of benchwork, almost doubling our previous largest setup of 599.75 feet at our 10th anniversary in 2013.
The size presented a few challenges, mainly system control electrical issues and surprisingly few individual module problems, a testament to the skills of the owners. We have done a bit more research into the electrical issues encountered, and with some advice from a few other Free-moites, we believe we have found what we believe to be the ‘best’ way to distribute control to the layout.
It was a great opportunity to see old and new friends, as well as great train running event, and we hope to see many of you again next year.
We expect to return to our normal Friday Setup, with running Saturday and Sunday. The dates are August 16-18, 2019. If there is enough interest, we could extend the 2019 setup to start on Thursday, 15 August and have three days of running. If you are interested in this, please !
